Hire car accessories are available from our Christchurch and Queenstown locations – simply select what you need when booking online, or let us know which accessories you would like if you book your hire car by phone.
BMW MINI Bike
This is our new addition to the BMW MINI series! This compact, foldable, light and sturdy MINI Bike fits into our MINI hire cars perfectly. This bike will take you places where your hire car won’t. Hire it out today and travel in style while staying healthy.
The BMW MINI Bike can be hired at just $30 along with any car hired at Touchdown.
Child Seats
Travelling with children? Our baby capsules, child seats and boosters will ensure the safety of your kids when travelling in your hire car.
Under New Zealand law, all children under seven years of age must use an approved child restraint appropriate for their age and size. Children aged seven must be secured in a restraint if one is available in the vehicle. Find out more about the regulations for using child restraints in New Zealand.
Child Seats are available for hire at just $35 each.
Strollers / Push Chairs
Travelling with children can be a challenge. Touchdown makes things simple by bringing to you the Quinny Stroller. Now you can travel light, stroll around with your wee little one and not have to worry about paying extra on oversized baggage or a larger hire car than you need.
The Stroller is available for hire at just $40.
GPS Navigation Systems
The South Island offers a range of beautiful, picturesque, scenic locations to visit. Although most routes are well sign-posted, having access to traffic information and warning of any particularly challenging routes (such as switchback bends) is an advantage. With a trusty GPS Navigation System you can now travel through the South Island in confidence. These GPS Navigation Systems will ensure you’re headed in the right direction in your hire car.
GPS Navigation Systems can be hired for $10 per day of car hire.
Bike Racks
If you’re planning to go cycling anywhere across the South Island look no further. Our bike racks will ensure your bikes reach your destination safely and securely.
Bike Racks can be hired for just $35 per rack. Multiple bike racks can be hired at a time. Bike Racks are not available for MINIs or BMW Convertible hire cars.
Snow Chains
The roads leading to the South Island’s snow fields are quite challenging, and it is best to stay safe by adding a set of these easy to fit snow chains to your hire car booking. These snow chains will ensure your hire car drives smoothly over those mountain roads. On some mountain roads snow chains are compulsory in winter, so don’t get caught out – hire snow chains with your winter car hire.

Snow chains are available for hire at just $35 per set. Snow chains are not available for MINIs or BMW Convertible hire cars.
Ski Racks
Planning your ski trip has never been easier. With our Ski Racks you can rest assured your ski gear is safe and secure. Our Ski Racks can hold up to two snow boards or two sets of skis. Add this to your car hire booking and we’ll ensure they are ready for your ski trip!
Ski Racks are available for hire at just $35 per rack. Multiple Ski Racks are available for hire. Ski Racks are not available for MINIs or BMW Convertible hire cars.
Kayak Cradles
Going kayaking yet can’t find a car hire large enough to get your equipment there? Well that’s no longer an issue. At Touchdown we have Kayak Cradles which will support your passion for kayaking all the way!
Kayak Cradles are available for hire at just $30 per cradle. Multiple Kayak Cradles are available fore hire. Kayak Cradles are not available for MINIs or BMW Convertible hire cars.
