With environmental concerns rising rapidly, consumers are asking why companies aren’t doing more to clean up their act. Here at Touchdown we are working towards reducing our carbon footprint through the addition of hybrid vehicles.
Hit the road, not the planet in an Audi A3 hybrid
The South Island is an amazing place to discover, and in our opinion the best way to do it is behind the wheel of a car. In the space of a few hours you can travel from one scenic destination to another that feels worlds apart, and the addition of the Audi A3 e-tron Hybrid to our fleet now makes it much better for our environment.
What you need to know
Audi’s sportback e-tron is a premium compact car which is perfect if you need to get around town or take advantage of its internal combustion engine for extended journeys. Because it’s a hybrid, you can expect fuel savings from the get go. And sporting a combined 150kW of power it can go from 0-100km/h in 7.6 seconds and boast a combined fuel consumption of only 1.7 litres per 100km.
Keyless entry, dual zone climate control, satellite navigation, LED interior lighting, front and back parking sensors, reverse camera and Audi’s autonomous braking system all come standard. And much like it’s traditional, internal combustion counterpart, you can expect sharp handling and power when you need it.
Where can I drive it?
Anywhere you find a road! The best thing about this new hybrid is that it can take advantage of the charging network already in place across the South Island. Between Invercargill and Nelson there are over 45 charging stations located in major tourist hotspots. The beauty of a Hybrid is that you don’t have to rely on constantly having a full battery, so you can confidently take it on longer trips between cities and towns with ease. How can I secure one for myself?
For anyone looking to head off-road we highly recommend hiring a car made to handle it. With the variance in weather we expect at this time of year you could face a dry and dusty track one day and a slippery stretch of mud the next. If you’re keen to head up any of the mountains for some spring skiing or snowboarding as well, carrying a pair of snow chains are essential. To make it easy you can hire them from us when you pick up your vehicle and we’re more than happy to show you how to fit them.
